A GIVING ALTERNATIVE

If you're looking for somewhere else to send your Episcopal or Anglican money, Jackson Moore's AMiA parish, Church of the Apostles in Raleigh, North Carolina is taking up a collection for the Church of Uganda.  Contact him here

Church of the Apostles will be sending a deacon to the enthronement of Uganda's new Archbishop in January, the one Frank Griswold and the ECUSA are not invited to.  And the parish web site is well worth a bookmark as it's loaded with sermons and other Bible study resources.

Thanks, Christopher! Angela, our webmaster, works very hard to keep the website up to date.

Regarding donations:

My mission parish is taking up a collection for the Anglican Province of Uganda through Church of the Apostles - Raleigh, where I am a member.

Our deacon, Paul, is participating in Bishop Henry Orombi's January 2004 enthronement in Kampala. Paul and Henry Orombi's brother, George Piwang, know each other from George's post-graduate work at Duke University in Durham. George is a lay evangelist in Kampala who preached at our church back in August. He will be returning to the States to complete his PhD in Economics. You can reach George's sermon here:

Those desiring to donate to the Province of Uganda can send their checks to:

Church of the Apostles
P.O. Box 20737
Raleigh, NC 27619

(the street address is 5025 Edwards Mill Road, 27612-4421, but delivery to the street address has been spotty).

Make the check payable to: Church of the Apostles and put "Uganda" in the memo box. Church of the Apostles is a registered 501(c)(3) and a mission of the Anglican Province of Rwanda; you can find out more about the church at www.apostles-raleigh.org.

Church of the Apostles will transmit the funds to Uganda, probably through Western Union or through banking relationships. (This is one benefit of having a deacon who also is a commercial banker!).

If you have any questions, please contact me by e-mail at jacksonwyattmoore@yahoo.com.

This is great - thank you Chris and Jackson. If it is God's will, I pray that the gifts flood in and that the Ugandan Church is blessed beyond all comprehension for their upholding of complete and true Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The mission work of Church of the Apostles continues to produce significant fruit. God is good!

How can it not be God's will
>that the gifts flood in and
>that the Ugandan Church is blessed
>beyond all comprehension???!!!

I encourage everyone to pray AND to send at least 10% of what they are spending for Christmas. Let's dwarf what was offered by Pr. Bishop I-Prefer-Not-to-Say-his-Name, and give legs to our love for them for standing for us in this apostate time. Hundreds of thousands are possible here. How rich we are! How dare we not rise to this opportunity.

Ah, yes... Bishop He-Must-Not-Be-Named!

Does anyone have more information about the camps in Gulu. I'm not having much luck with google.

Being in NC I don't pretend to have intimate knowledge of Gulu, but I did find this site:

The idea of covering the Gulu offering has surfaced on CaNN and in comments exchanged with Kendall Harmon (titusonline). I expect it may be picked up and move swiftly. The offering through Church of the Apostles to the Church of Uganda might give them more flexibility to apply as needed, and could be accompanied with a note as to our special concern for Gulu, now that it has come to attention.

I hope this episode will create some immediate structures to show love and solidarity with our Christian siblings in dire need, and close pragmatic relationships amongst us. There is no excuse for me to have extra funds for recreational shopping while there is such need amongst those who have been so courageous on our behalf.

Incidentally, is Church of the Apostles equipped to do credit cards via e-mail? This may need to proceed quite quickly.

Hello LP:

Church of the Apostles presently does not have the capacity to accept donations over the internet. Others are checking to see if we can arrange donations via PayPal or some other provider.

For now, send paper checks by mail to the P.O. Box listed above.

For what it's worth, I was not expecting to make this a "restricted" gift tied to Gulu. I have to trust that the Ugandan Diocese knows best how to spend the money.
